I'm taking a class on the U.S. Constitution; the teacher says that we have (our country/our government/our people) have drifted far from what the framers of the historic document intended.  He says he doesn't believe we can turn back the flood, the movement away from those signers' ideals.  Maybe not.  Probably not?  But does that mean we shouldn't try?!!
